Franciscan Marks – Fine China

Companies identify their products with marks. Marks are often referred to as back-stamps or bugs. These are marks used by Gladding, McBean & Co. and Interpace to identify their Franciscan fine china products.

1941 to 1947

Gladding, McBean added to mark.

1955 to 1958

Copyright and registered marks added.

1955 to 1956

This mark was only used for the Contours fine china art ware line designed by George T. James.

1958 to 1962
1962 to 1963
1963

Gladding, McBean removed from mark after merge.

April 1963 to July 1964

Interpace added after the merge.

1966 to 1977

The initials R.K. were added to the bottom of the stamp for second quality ware which was sold in the Franciscan Shop. RK stands for “Run of Kiln.”
